A priest must strictly adhere to a long list of rules.
There is a prohibition against a priest getting married. A priest can never abandon his congregation. A priest can never abandon his faith in God.

Following norms has always been something I'm good at.
till she got there.
It's me, Tyler Anselm Bell. I'm currently 29 years old. Six months ago, I renounced my vow of celibacy before the altar of my own church, and if it were up to God, I would do it all over again.
This is my priestly confession; I beg your pardon.

Priest is a self-contained, satisfying narrative with a satisfying conclusion. This content is intended solely for adults.

An Overview of the Writer

Former librarian turned best-selling novelist Sierra Simone now writes frequently for publications including USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. Priest, American Queen, and Misadventures of a Curvy Girl are just a few of her popular books that have been praised by media outlets like Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Entertainment Weekly, and Buzzfeed. Sierra and her family currently make their home in Kansas City.

Justification for Picking up This Book

The story was riveting, and there was a certain sizzling quality to it as well. Being able to peek into Father Bell's mind was both a sin and a wonderful experience. We got to see him fight temptation, learn how hard it is to keep his emotions in check, learn why he decided to become a priest, and learn how close he came to betraying his faith and the church. Readability and interest were both high. I could not put it down and read it cover to cover in a single sitting. This book is worth reading for a number of other reasons, too:-

For one, I really enjoyed the writing. The smutty parts detracted from her otherwise brilliant writing style, and I can't believe I'm saying this. She had the makings of a bestseller on her hands; the writing was lyrical, and all that was missing was a compelling story.
Two, I thought a lot of Father Tyler's inner monologue was great. He took his priestly calling seriously and laboured constantly to change the negative public perception of priests. Additionally, I was able to relate to the inner turmoil he was experiencing as he struggled to decide between honouring his chastity vows and his developing feelings for Poppy. The level of tension was palpable. I would have given this an easy 4 or 5 stars if the author had stuck closer to that angsty feeling plotline instead of veering off into sex scene after sex scene.
Finally, I found the book's theological content to be very illuminating. As a practising Catholic who was brought up with the faith, I was able to see that the author had done extensive research. She did not use it as a way to bash the Catholic Church or pedophilic priests, but rather to extol its virtues.
